libby's coachella tu(n)esday!

Another year has come and gone and guess what, kids?  TIME FOR COACHELLA!  Here's a little list of who I'd love to see in the desert in a couple days.

Royal Blood

Jesus, I love these guys.  And I'm staying so far out of the front section for them.  Oh yeah, the singer is hot.  Super hot.

fka Twigs

She is quite possibly the most unique person out there right now.  The dancing, the singing, the sexuality in every single movement and word - she's incredible.

(this first video is when I lost my shit)

(this second video is when I fell in love)

Caribou

Their performances are visually stunning and I'm not done with "Can't Do Without You" yet.

Tame Impala

These Aussie hippies sound like they came straight from the 1960s and I love it!

Father John Misty

Josh Tillman is hilarious with his stage banter and overall performance.

Ryan Adams

Haters gonna hate.  He's weird, goofy, kinda nasty...but with such a huge catalog, I never come away disappointed.

Gorgon City

These guys are FUN.  Hoping they'll be in the Sahara Tent!

tu(n)esday! (the coachella remix) by libby hostetler

Well, I have the sniffles and a super sore throat which means I'm in the post-Coachella recuperation phase!  God, what a weekend.  And what a sandstorm that was Sunday night, huh?  Some random disappointments (see: The Stone Roses, Rodriguez and Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and some amazing surprises (i.e., R. Kelly coming out to sing "Ignition" with Phoenix!??!).  So here's my follow up to what I heard and saw on who was amazing.

Jessie Ware

Her set alone was amazing but when she came out to do her remix of Running with Disclosure?  Forget it.  I nearly blacked out and lost my damn mind.

Wu-Tang Clan

Anticipation was building all weekend for them and when they started at the height of the sandstorm Sunday night, nobody was thinking about the sand and dirt stuck in every crevice of their bodies.

Baauer

This Harlem Shaker had the entire Sahara tent going apeshit and man, was he hyped up!  He just did NOT stop moving and the crowd reciprocated his hyper behavior.

The Postal Service

Easily one of the biggest crowds all weekend and they delivered.  Surprisingly great set and it was awesome to see Ben Gibbard and Jenny Lewis dance around the main stage together.

Vampire Weekend

There was this group of bros to my right that had a specific dance for each and every established song.  It was hilarious to watch and overall, the crowd was loving VW.

Jake Bugg

I still can't believe he's barely 19.  It's just not RIGHT.  He sounds at least 20 years older than that and his lyrics are so unbelievably wise beyond his age.

Local Natives

They played at sunset and their dreamy tunes fit in perfectly with the setting.  Absolutely gorgeous.

That's all for now!  Back to blowing my nose and trying to remember everything that happened!

tu(n)esday! (the coachella edition) by libby hostetler

Ahhhh, it's that time of year.  When winter hasn't quite peaced the f*ck out and I'm praying for temps above 40 degrees.  When I am so pasty white that any little ray of sunshine immediately chars my skin within 5 minutes.  When I'm itching for a vacation anywhere but the northeast and my cat starts packing my bags in anticipation.  When I'm dying to dance my ass off with 150,000 other lunatics in near-100 degree heat.  YES folks, that's right - it's time for Coachella!  Here are my personal picks as to who I can't wait to see this year and in no particular order:

Disclosure

I have to start off with my #1 favorite band right now.  I just saw them in Williamsburg and I was completely blown away.  Easily my favorite concert of the year so far.  (Side note - I feel a little creepy loving them so much when they're 18 and 21!!!!)

Blur

Long live Britpop!!!!  Here's hoping Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon can "play nice" through their whole set.

Tame Impala

These Aussies put out what could arguably be the best album of last year.  Psychedelic rock at its finest!

Ben Howard

I recently discovered this guy's work thanks to Melissa :)  He could end up being the artist making all the girls weep with his soulful tunes.

The Stone Roses

So word has it Ian Brown can't sing well in their surprise reunion shows.  So what?  The grooves this Brit group produces are like no other.  And it instantly brings to mind images of "Madchester" and early 90s raves.

Phoenix

I'm underwhelmed by the first single from their forthcoming album, Entertainment, but anticipation is pretty high for these Frenchies' headlining set.

James Blake

Forget it.  This Brit makes me cry every single time I see him perform.  Add this set to another tear-jerker show.

Rodriguez

The legend that almost never was.  If you've seen Searching for Sugar Man, you will totally understand how it's amazing that this guy is performing at Coachella!

Eric Prydz

There may be a lack of big EDM names this year (which some people are happy about) but this guy will have me running to the Sahara tent in seconds flat.
