faux show by karen g.
Growing up surrounded by the glamorous world of TV Soaps like "Dynasty," I always had a thing for women in fur. To me, there was nothing quite as elegant as seeing a beautiful star draped in fur and dripping in diamonds. Of course, when I realized where fur actually came from, my love of the look took a childhood-crushing turn (this may have been the same time I found out that Santa Claus was a myth as well). Being a member of the ASPCA in later years and a silent advocate of PETA, it was hard for me to admit to myself that my love for the "look" of fur” never really died. When I thought all hope for my secret obsession was lost, my faith in humanity was restored when a little something called
"Faux Fur" entered my world.
I was thrilled to see that top designers and celebrities alike had jumped onto the “faux fur” wagon and have been rocking this look, in all styles and sizes, for the past few years.
The foxy faux fur from the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2013 collection during Paris Fashion Week on October 1, 2012 in Paris, France.
Adorable faux fur trimmed coat by Kate Spade.
In 2010, even fashion giant CHANEL was pushing faux fur down their runway!
Lanvin went faux for their run at H&M!
Rihanna knows you don’t have to pay a fortune to look good. Here she is rocking her faux fur with cute skinny jeans.
Even now I still love the faux fox look Sienna Miller rocked in 2009.
And Kate Moss, who has been seen in real fur in the past, is now wearing faux fur rather successfully.
Even the extremely rich, like Paris Hilton, are opting for a more “eco-friendly” option.
And Mrs. Beckham decided to go faux after being hounded by PETA for years for her love of fur.
Nowadays, it’s hard to tell the difference unless you have an extremely keen eye for the look and feel of fur, and during these chilly winter months, the thought of a luxurious warm drape around your body is a very inviting thought. With top design houses like Prada and Givenchy heading in a more “earth-friendly” direction I have to ask, if you could, would you wear the real thing or not?

shades of blue
Are you like my friend Rio (check out her blog le chic batik) & I, pining for some color in NYFW? Here are some different uses of blue in the Fall 2010 collections from this week. What are y'all feeling?
