libby's coachella tu(n)esday!

Another year has come and gone and guess what, kids?  TIME FOR COACHELLA!  Here's a little list of who I'd love to see in the desert in a couple days.

Royal Blood

Jesus, I love these guys.  And I'm staying so far out of the front section for them.  Oh yeah, the singer is hot.  Super hot.

fka Twigs

She is quite possibly the most unique person out there right now.  The dancing, the singing, the sexuality in every single movement and word - she's incredible.

(this first video is when I lost my shit)

(this second video is when I fell in love)

Caribou

Their performances are visually stunning and I'm not done with "Can't Do Without You" yet.

Tame Impala

These Aussie hippies sound like they came straight from the 1960s and I love it!

Father John Misty

Josh Tillman is hilarious with his stage banter and overall performance.

Ryan Adams

Haters gonna hate.  He's weird, goofy, kinda nasty...but with such a huge catalog, I never come away disappointed.

Gorgon City

These guys are FUN.  Hoping they'll be in the Sahara Tent!

libby's top albums of 2014!

OOF, has this been an amazing year of music or what!?  In no particular order, here are my picks of the best albums of 2014.

FKA Twigs - LP1

Once I heard "How's That" from EP2, I was dying for a full album.  She did NOT disappoint and I don't think I'll stop being fascinated by her for a very long time.

Gorgon City - Sirens

These guys did a great job of filling my Disclosure-loving heart.  A distinct bass "thump" in the chorus of each song and great guest vocalists - nobody does 90s house music like the Brits.

SOHN - Tremors

The emotion in each song kills me.  Someone tore him up...

Beck - Morning Phase

Okay, I lied, I have two albums tied for first place.  This is one of them.  I have to admit, I haven't listened to Beck's stuff much outside of the 90s and man, this came out of nowhere!  Haunting and gorgeous.

Caribou - Our Love

This is my other #1 album.  I love each and every song from this album but the standout song, of course, is "Can't Do Without You."  Just those four words building up for 5 minutes...unreal.

Toni Braxton & Babyface - Love, Marriage & Divorce

I know, this came out of nowhere.  Though a little cheesy at times, it took me right back to the mid-90s.

Royal Blood - Royal Blood

Rock is alive and well in these two Brits.  The first song along blows my face off every time I hear it.

Ariana Grande - My Everything

Don't worry, I whip myself every night for loving this album.  Too bad it came from such a terrible little brat.

Sam Smith - In the Lonely Hour

He's an angel.  That is all.

Tinashe - Aquarius

Take note, Rihanna, this is how it's done.

Little Dragon - Nabuma Rubberband

The minute I heard "Klapp Klapp" I knew we were in for a great album...

libby's top concerts of 2014!

Live show extraordinaire Libby Hostetler shares her fave concerts of the year!

I had to go back through the calendar year to see where to get started and there's no place like...

1.  Disclosure Live at Terminal 5/Disclosure DJ set at Webster Hall

So last MLK weekend I had a whirlwind couple of days where I first saw them DJ at Webster Hall and then got to see their live show.  Both were equally amazing (though I got home at 5:30 am for the DJ set, ugh).

2.  FKA Twigs at Webster Hall

I went into this show thinking okay, she's cool, I'm intrigued and I walked away wondering what in the sam hell I just saw!  Absolutely unreal...

3.  Kiesza at Santos Party House

I got to see her first NYC show ever and I'll quote someone on this - "it was glorious."

(I couldn't find any video of her show at Santos Party House - kinda cool?)

4.  Sam Smith at Hammerstein Ballroom

This angel went from playing the wee Mercury Lounge in August 2013 to selling out MSG for January 2015.  Here is where I felt he really was starting to feel comfortable.

6.  Catfish and The Bottlemen at Mercury Lounge

These boys!  They're going places....once they release their debut album here.  :(

7.  Royal Blood at Webster Hall

THESE GUYS.  Oooooooooooosh.

8.  James Blake at Music Hall of Williamsburg

Long story how I managed to get into this show but man, it was WORTH IT.
