the perpetuation of sorrow

The Perpetuation of Sorrow

When we fragment forests
we create an excellent habitat for the cowbird

whose females shove the eggs out from songbird nests

and substitute their own
for those full-time mothers to hatch.

A spiral for which I am sorry.
I couldn't help myself.
